This image began as paper folded, lit, and photographed in extreme macro until the material stopped looking like paper at all.

 

What remains is texture without object: light catching a crease, shadow pooling in a fold, surface becoming form. I made this in Mexico, working with the simplest material I had on hand and the closest lens I owned, looking for the point where something familiar becomes unrecognizable.

Printed on museum-quality Hahnemühle paper and produced in limited editions, every print is signed and numbered by Ana Zaha.​
