Ghost Town is one of several settlements scattered across the UAE's interior desert built decades ago, then abandoned as populations moved toward the coast.

 

What's left behind isn't ruin in the dramatic sense, but something slower: walls softened by sand, structures settling back into the landscape they were built on. I photographed it in the kind of light that makes it hard to tell where the architecture ends and the desert begins.
