British Columbia is one of the few places in the world where lavender grows at the scale it does whole fields of it, in summer, in the light of the Pacific Northwest.

 

I photographed these fields on one of my working trips through BC, between residential shoots in Abbotsford and the Fraser Valley. There is a specific quality to the light there in the late afternoon soft, even, and without the harshness of midday. The kind of light that doesn't ask anything of you.
