I photographed this ice formation in Whistler, in the mountains of British Columbia, during one of the coldest weeks of the season. There is a stillness to ice that snow doesn't have — snow falls and settles, but ice holds tension, the slow record of water caught mid-movement and frozen into form. This print is a close study of that surface: the texture, the light passing through it, the sense that something is happening even though nothing appears to move.
