Every time I work in British Columbia, I come back to the same observation: the architecture here has a quality that you simply don't find in Mexico City or Dubai. It's not better or worse it's distinct in a way that requires you to adjust how you read a space before you photograph it.
There's a classicism in BC residential architecture that runs across the Fraser Valley pitched roofs, generous window placement designed for a specific quality of northern light, wood and stone material palettes that make sense in a landscape that is genuinely green. These are houses that were designed for the weather and the context they're in, and that specificity shows in every room you photograph.
In Dubai, luxury interiors often compete with their setting. In Mexico City, the architecture is dense and carved out of centuries of urban decisions. In British Columbia, there's a generosity of space and a relationship with the landscape that changes how you set up every shot.
This trip took me through Abbotsford and Chilliwack two Fraser Valley communities where custom residential work is genuinely strong. I was working with some returning clients in Abbotsford and connected with a new client in Chilliwack.
The houses photographed on this trip demonstrate what BC residential design does well: natural light used intelligently, open plans that feel proportioned, and material decisions that communicate warmth rather than luxury as a performance.
