The living room is the defining space of Carmen House. A vaulted wooden pitched roof characteristic of the best Canadian residential architecture  rises above an open plan anchored by a stone fireplace and framed by floor-to-ceiling windows that bring the surrounding forest inside. The furniture is scaled to the volume: considered, warm, and without excess. Natural light shifts through the room across the day, which is why I spent the most time photographing it.
